Bonjour, Bookoholic’s and a belated Merry Christmas to all of you! I hope you all had a great Christmas as I have had and are now ready to start celebrating the coming of a new year. I know I am and I have some stories to share with you!
So, as most of you should probably know by now, I live in Maine. I moved here in order to attend University in the fall of 2018. Because of this move I’m actually kind of far from my family (10 1/2 hours are my closest relatives).
Originally, I had expected to be spending Christmas alone in Maine since I’d already went home for Thanksgiving to see my grandparents. Turns out, both my places of work were actually closing early on Christmas eve and closed altogether on Christmas. This was news to me and, as soon as I learned about it, the wheels in my head started turning.
You see, I didn’t get a chance to see my Dad or Step-mom for Thanksgiving since my stay was so short and I was actually 5 hours away from them. So, I thought, what better gift than to surprise them for Christmas. They both thought that I had work on both days and I couldn’t get off and, until a little while ago, I had thought the same thing. It actually turns out that Sunday and Mondays are my days off anyway from both my places of work. As soon as I found out the days Christmas eve and Christmas fell on, everything started to fall into place.
I bought my plane tickets and informed my brothers and sister-in-law of my plans. They were all for it. My plan was set and in motion from the beginning of December. I was so excited and it was really difficult not to blurt out my intentions over the phone every time I either spoke with my dad or step-mom.
Safe to say, it all worked out and they were both completely blown away when I arrived at the house on Christmas eve. It was a short visit, but it was a fun one. I got to see my brothers for the first time in about 6 months and I got to see my sister-in-law who is now 12 weeks pregnant!
It was a good Christmas and now I’m heading back home to Maine. I would like to state that I did almost miss my flight. It started boarding at 7:40 and I didn’t get through security and to the gate until 7:50. A close call that had me panicking big time. I made it, though, and twenty minutes later, I landed safely in Philly. Now I’m just waiting for my next flight.
During my short flight and time waiting, however, I’ve thought up an amazing birthday gift for my brother. I want to tell it so bad but, like him, you’ll all just have to wait to figure out what it is until April. It’s going to be amazing, trust me, bookoholic’s. I get giddy just thinking about it.
Well, that’s about it for this update. I’ll do a reveal of what I got for Christmas in a later post. If you have any guesses as to what the gift will be leave a comment!
