Darkest Minds

For those of you who have read The Darkest Minds I know we must all share a similar interest in seeing the characters and the world brought to life on the big screen. California Girl

Hey Bookoholic’s!

So, if you’ve been following my posts on twitter, you probably know that I’m in California right now. I’ll be here for just about two months and so far it’s pretty great. I haven’t posted too much yet while in CA because the jet lag was hitting me hard Sunday and Monday. I’m starting to get back on my regular schedule now though so I’ll be posting more regularly.

So here’s the rundown on what’s been going on the last few days. On Saturday I graduated which was amazing! It was so nerve wracking to walk up on that stage but it was also one of the best experiences of my life. I also received a creative writing scholarship which was probably one of the best parts of the entire thing aside from receiving my diploma and tossing my hat up in the air with my friends and classmates. I just loved seeing all of them in the air at once. I wish I could have snapped a photo at that time but I didn’t have my phone on me then.

On Sunday I woke up pretty early, around 2:30 A.M., so that I could catch my first flight. It’s safe to say I downed almost two whole things of coffee just to wake up and then another at the airport in Las Vegas. It was pretty cool being there, especially with the sun out and shining. There were also slot machines everywhere! Whenever I turned my head BAM! slot machine. It was both cool and funny.

I didn’t do too much while I was in Vegas since I didn’t want to miss my last flight to get to CA. I had a two hour layover, about 15 or 20 minutes of it was spent getting to my new boarding area, so I spent it taking some pictures and just relaxing.

On both flights I managed to get window seats right behind the wing which was really cool because I got to see it moving when we took off or landed. Both of the flights were pretty smooth and I enjoyed it a lot. I flew with Southwest Airlines if anyone is interested and looking for an airline to fly with. I was allowed one free carry on and two free luggage bags.

As soon as I got in CA I was really excited and I met up with my mom pretty quick after that. I got my bags and we started out for her place. We didn’t do too much the first day, especially with the jet lag starting to hit me. I was out at 6 and woke up at 3 A.M. it was pretty weird.

Yesterday we went out to the pier and I got to see a lot of surfers out despite the cloudy “June Gloom” day. I saw a seal too! It was adorable.

Despite it being cloudy it was pretty warm. We went on a hiking trail after seeing the pier and that was fun but because I’m not used to hiking my feet did start to hurt. They’re a lot better today. We also went to this cool Reptile Zoo and I got some cool pictures of snakes and turtles. We didn’t go too far into it though since you have to pay to get into other rooms. I’m sure we’ll do that later though!

That’s about it for the rundown Bookoholic’s. not too much has happened the past two days aside from my plane ride and arriving in California. I’ll definitely post more later!
